Enterprise Systems Catalog

An Enterprise System, as defined by California Senate Bill 272 (SB 272), is a software application or computer system that collects, stores, exchanges, and analyzes information an agency uses that meets both of the following criteria:

  1. A multi-departmental system, or a system that contains information collected about the public.

  2. A system that serves as a “system of record” or an original source of data within an agency.

Requirements for the Enterprise Systems Catalog:

  1. The catalog contains the following information for each enterprise system:

    • Current system vendor

    • Current system product

    • System purpose

    • Description of data types or categories of information collected

    • Department that is the prime custodian of the data

    • Frequency that system data is collected

    • Frequency that system data is updated

  2. The catalog is available to the public upon request.

  3. The catalog is posted in a prominent location on the agency’s website.
