Solid Waste & Recycling
The Wrightwood Community Services District assumed solid waste powers from the County of San Bernardino in 2017. The WCSD oversees solid waste and recycling programs for commercial businesses within District boundaries and contracts for residential solid waste and recycling services with CR&R. Each year, the WCSD partners with The Wrightwood Fire Safe Council to promote green waste recycling events for our residents.
The County established waste hauler designated areas and charges a Franchise Fee of 10% to waste haulers. The hauler pays these fees monthly based upon the revenue. The hauler also makes an annual recycling report showing how many tons of solid waste they have recycled in compliance with State regulations.

Street Lighting
The Wrightwood Community Services District holds power to acquire, construct, improve, maintain and operate street lighting and landscaping on public property, public right-of-way, and public easements (§61100(g)). The Lighting District consist of 23 light poles within the Wrightwood community business district also referred to as ‘downtown’. San Bernardino Dark Skies Ordinance is supported by the WCSD.
Wastewater
Planning and engineering for the potential development of a regional wastewater treatment system should such be required by the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board in the same manner as a sanitary district, formed pursuant to the Sanitary District Act of 1923 Division 6 (commencing with Section 6400) of the Health and Safety Code (§61100b).
Dump Cards
During the 1970’s, San Bernardino County established the Dump Card program. Every year Wrightwood homeowners, and homeowners in many of the unincorporated areas of the County, pay a household disposal fee of $85.44. The household disposal fee is paid through property taxes. Those funds enable the homeowner to dispose of residential trash once per week, up to 500 lbs and to dispose of green waste materials 12 times per year. The fee is not applicable to vacant undeveloped land. Dump cards are mailed annually to verified homeowners before the start of each Fiscal Year, which runs from July 1st to June 30th. New homeowners must notify the WCSD of the change of ownership in order to receive a dump card.

Household Hazardous Waste
Many common products that we use in our daily lives contain potentially hazardous materials and require special care for disposal. Chemicals and illegally or improperly disposed hazardous waste can be released into the environment and contaminate our air and water. Throwing hazardous waste in the garbage can cause additional hazards to your garbage handler.
Drop-off Limit Per Trip
No more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per trip may be brought to the HHW Facility per participant, and containers may be no larger than five (5) gallons.
